A CENTURY OF CINEMA IN THE PINES

ONE OF BRITAIN’S MOST DISTINCTIVE CINEMAS
The building began life as a late-Victorian sports and entertainment pavilion. It was converted into a cinema and opened on 11 September 1922, beginning a remarkable story that continues as a privately owned family business.
Screen One is believed to be the UK’s only full-time cinema still using rear projection. The Kinema has grown to four auditoriums while retaining its warm, nostalgic character and the much-loved Compton Kinestra organ installed in 1987.
FILMS, HERITAGE & A LITTLE KINEMA MAGIC

THE MIGHTY COMPTON ORGAN
The ornate cinema organ rises into Screen One and is guaranteed with the final Screen One film every Saturday night.

THE FULL KINEMA EXPERIENCE
Retro décor, memorabilia, confectionery and the possibility of interval organ music make a visit feel far more special than an ordinary multiplex trip.

FILMS FOR EVERY MOOD
Four auditoriums present current releases, family films, classics and special screenings, with the programme confirmed on the Kinema website.
