The story behind the stop

Refreshment, reading and woodland charm

The Tea House grew from Woodhall Spa’s Edwardian resort culture. It was run by the Misses Williams, sisters of Dr Williams, superintendent of the Spa Baths, and the sisters bought the premises outright in 1913.

Visitors could take tea on the verandah or at rustic tables on the lawn. The business also included a fancy-goods shop and a lending library, making it a social stop as well as a place for refreshments. After several owners and names, the building continues as the Tea House in the Woods. It is a working restaurant, so current menus, opening and bookings should be checked on its live profile.
