More than 140 years of hospitality and change
The building began as a home for the Blyton family. Charles Blyton, a nurseryman and florist, occupied it in the mid-1870s. It became a hotel in 1882, with further alterations for the Eagle Lodge Pension Hotel in 1889. Contemporary accounts said it could accommodate around 30 to 40 invalids and visitors.
A 1935 sale notice advertised 37 bedrooms. In the late 1960s the property became a local-authority care home, before later returning to hotel use. It reopened in 2013 as the Inn at Woodhall Spa and remains a working hotel.
