RIDES, GLADES & AN AGEING PINE AVENUE

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust describes a woodland of oak, birch, rowan and Scots pine that has regenerated on former heathland. Open glades interrupt the canopy and an ageing avenue of Corsican pine gives the reserve a distinctive character.

The reserve is especially rewarding for fungi in autumn. Great spotted woodpecker, treecreeper, coal tit and goldcrest are among the woodland birds to listen and look for along the waymarked trail.
